The Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine is an international organization to promote the education, research and clinical application of the classical writings of East Asian medicine. This diploma is awarded to those who successfully complete the post-graduate continuing education program. This two year program delves into the wisdom and paradigm underlying the application of herbal medicinals during the Han Dynasty. These sources reflect the empirical experience of Zhang Zhongjing, a highly trained acupuncturist and author of the classics the Shang Han Lun and Jin Gui Yao Lue.
The Han Dynasty acupuncturist was operating at a time that predates western medicine in China. It therefore teaches treatment of difficult as well as more common place ailments. Recipients of this Diploma have shown their dedication to acquire the skills necessary to offer their patients herbal remedies that have stood the test of time.
The 9 day School for the Work is an immersion into the work of Byron Katie.
Presenting this work over the years and gathering the prompts that people found most helpful, resulted in what I call, Inquiry with Olive.
Simply put, Inquiry with Olive, is a clear and simple process for examining your stressful thoughts in a way that allows you to find peace. It puts all the power in your hands, and can be done as independently as you choose.
Putting it into practice, gives you a method for taming your mind.
When stressful thoughts occur to the unexamined mind, they bring stressful images, which result in physiological sensations, just like watching a stressful movie would. We tend to think that the difference between imagination and reality, is that we can feel reality physically. So, when we feel those physical sensations, we assume our thoughts are true. This gives them the power to control us, and we find ourselves blown around like a leaf in the wind by any difficult thought that comes to mind.
Through this clearly presented process of inquiry, we begin to train our minds. To clean them, to examine them for truth and build the muscle to allow us to dictate which thoughts, if any, we will follow, and which we will simply allow to pass like clouds in the sky.
Inquiry with Olive can be done as a stand alone, virtually or in person. It can also be combined with an acupuncture treatment.
If you are a returning patient who wants to combine with acupuncture, simply book a long acupuncture appointment and mention it in the notes.
New patients who want to combine it with acupuncture can mention it in the notes when they book their first time appointment.
You can book Inquiry with Olive as a stand alone through Booksy under the Stillpoint options. Since we can also do this work virtually, we have some time options beyond my clinic days. Feel free to contact me if you are not finding what you want online.
